have graduated with your diploma you can work toward an
NZQA Certificate in Applied Theology, Diploma in Mission

Curriculum
MM573 Introduction to Youth Leadership
(15 credits)
a. Principles of Spiritual Leadership: Analyse the dynamics
and responsibilities of spiritual leadership, with particular
reference to call, motivation, requirements, responsibilities,
skills, style and trials.
b. Management and Ministry: Develop an understanding of the
dynamics and requirements of management in ministry with particular
reference to time and financial management, marketing, planning,
delegation, motivation, decision making, conflict resolution,
change management and discipline.
MM574: Youth Ministry Design and Programming
(15 credits)
a. Youth Ministry Design: Develop a Biblical and appropriate
youth ministry design with particular reference to philosophy,
purpose, models of ministry, implementation, and integration
with the wider church.
b. Youth Ministry Programming: Learn principles and practices
of elements of an effective youth programme with particular
reference to Bible study, prayer, worship, camping, evangelism,
mission, and recreation.
MM575: Pastoral Care of Adolescents
(15 credits)
a. Adolescence: Learn developmental characteristics of adolescence
such as physical, sexual, emotional, social, intellectual,
moral and spiritual. Understand the impact of factors affecting
behaviour such as personality, environment and the family.
b. Adolescent Pastoral Care: Learn principles and practices
of pastoral care to adolescents with particular reference
to personal qualities, listening skills, building helping
relationships, common pastoral care issues, handling crises,
confidentiality and referral.
MM670: Mission Within Youth Culture
(15 credits)
a. Youth Culture: Explore cultural characteristics and trends
affecting young people with particular reference to historical
trends, environment, worldview, behaviour, implications and
responses.
b. Communication Skills: Learn principles and practices of
effective communication through preaching, training and small
group leadership. Understand the principles of teaching, learning,
preparation, presentation, group dynamics and learning styles.
Cost
Courses (distance and onsite) cost NZ$562.00. (international
students pay NZ$1500).

Advanced Diploma in Youth Ministry
MM675: Advanced Pastoral Care of Adolescence
(15 credits)
a. Advanced Pastoral Care of Adolescents I: Explore
a range of common adolescent physiological and emotional issues,
and learn effective pastoral care strategies for dealing with
them.
b. Advanced Pastoral Care of Adolescents II: Explore a range
of common adolescent social and spiritual issues, and learn
effective pastoral care strategies for dealing with them.
MM 676: Youth Ministry Philosophy and
Practice (15 credits)
a. Youth Ministry Philosophy: Develop your own philosophical
approach to youth ministry through the thorough examination
of seven distinct frameworks: theology, eccelsiology, developmental
factors, culture, history and sociology.
b. Youth Ministry Practice: In the light of the changes in
youth culture develop relevant and effective youth ministry
practices that cover a wide range of leadership and programming
issues.
