of particular value to youth workers:
- Google Desktop Search:
Operates just like their search engine but instead of trawling
the internet it searches in your computer, Find that file
you are looking for in a fraction of a second.
- e-Prompter:
A great little programme for checking all your emails accounts
with one simple click. Works for POP3 accounts, hotmail,
yahoo, gmail etc.
- Antivirus and spyware software: Protect
your computer from "nasties" with the following
excellent free downloads. Recommended by many computer magazines
as being almost as effective as expensive software. Note
its worth having all these and running them regularly even
if they calim to do the same thing. Some will detect problems
others will miss.
- Grisoft
AVG Antivirus: An excellent free antivirus programme
with free updates (only for personal or church use)
- Lavasoft
Adaware: Protection from known data-mining, aggressive
advertising, Trojans, dialers, malware, browser hijackers,
and tracking components.
- Spybot
Search and Destroy: Detects and removes spyware.
- Ewido
Anti-Malaware: Protection against hijackers, spyware,
worms, dialers, trojans and keyloggers
